South Africa’s Elaine and Nigeria’s Tems have been nominated for the Best International Act: viewers choice at the 2021 BET awards. What this means is that you the viewer have to vote for your favorite act to win. They’ve been nominated alongside Ronisa (France), MC Dricka (Brazil), Bree Runway (UK) and Arlo Parks (UK).
Elaine released her EP Elements in 2020 as an independent artist and the project was critically acclaimed as the most streamed RnB project to come out of Sub-Saharan Africa that year. Eventually this landed her a deal with Columbia Records.
While Tems also released her EP For Broken Ears in 2020 earning her a nomination for best Vocal performance at the Headies Awards and a smash hit record with Wizkid on the song Essence.
The 2021 bet awards will take place on the 27th of June, at the Microsoft theater in L.A.
