South African Rapper Riky Rick Passes at 34

The South African hiphop rapper, fashion designer and businessman Riky Rick passed away on February 23rd 2022. The rapper is well known for making some of the hottest hiphop sounds on the South African airwaves and other parts of the continent and the world at large.

Riky Rick founded his record label Cotton Club Records operating under his own advertising and media agency Makhado Makhado Agency. He also founded the hip-hop festival Cotton Fest in 2019, which was is to return on 19th and 20th March.

Riky Rick got his breakout season in 2014 following the release of his single ‘Nafukwa’. His debut studio album Family Values was certified platinum by RiSA.

Riky tweeted few hours before his death: “I’ll return a stronger man. This land is still my home.”

Athough we cannot confirm the exact cause of death yet, sources claim the rapper allegedly killed himself by hanging after suffering severe depression. The rapper in 2020 disclosed in an interview that he suffered from “chronic depression” and found himself on a “destructive path” after the loss of his dad.

His family has requested for privacy at this point.
