The Ghanaian local media has repeatedly shared list of artists with most streams in Ghana. This stats have always been about a few artists buzzing in Ghana. Clearly, these researchers and reporters are not paying attention to every other Ghanaian artist, they are just focused on few controversial artists and the ones known by locals.
Through a quick search, I realised there are so many Ghanaian artists with way bigger numbers than what’s reported.
The Ghanaian-American singer and songwriter Amaarae racks up over 10 million monthly listeners. This is more than 500% of what Sarkodie, Shatta Wale or Stonebwoy is getting currently.
Her “SAD GIRLZ LUV MONI” song has over 15 million streams on Spotify alone. The remix version of this song featuring Kali Uchis and Moliy has exceeded 135 million streams on just Spotify.
