Netflix’s new addition Black Beach features Ghana heavily from soundtracks to film locations.
According to IMDb, Black Beach movie tells a story of a businessman who receives a mission to intercede on behalf of a US engineer in the oil industry who’s been kidnapped in Africa.
Who directed Black Beach?
Black Beach was directed by the award-winning Spanish film director Esteban Crespo, the movie highlights a typical young man who is a model of rectitude and willing to fight for a better future for poor Africans who are victimised in the process of embezzlement and bad governance.
Where was Black Beach filmed?
The Black Beach movie was shot in different locations including Ghana, Spain and Belgium.
Ghana is the most dominated location in this movie, the team behind the production captured amazing scenes of the coastal belts in the Central Region. The also made use of the Elmina Castle, one of the oldest slave castles built by the Portuguese in 1482. This was the first slave trade post built on the Gulf of Guinea.
They also filmed in some of the rural areas in Ghana with some of the natives as part of the casts, this is a world-class production and a heavily invested movie as such.
Some parts of the movie were filmed in Gran Canaria, one of Spain’s Canary Islands. Other locations also include Playa del Inglés and Puerto Rico, Puerto de Mogán and San Agustín.

The Black Beach movie features two of Shatta Wale’s songs, Ayoo and My Level.
Shatta Wale is one of Africa’s most recognised Dancehall artists, he was featured on Beyonce’s album The Lion King: The Gift with Major Lazer and Guilty Beatz.
Ayoo and My Level are both some of Shatta Wale’s chart-topping hits with so much appreciation from the streets of Accra and other parts of Ghana.
