SESSNS: Afrowired Observes Rare Disease Day with a Live Performance by Darkua

Afro-urban music and culture outfit Afrowired has partnered with the Rare Disease Ghana Initiative to observe this year’s Rare Disease Day.

The Rare Disease Day falls on 28th February and it marks a very special day in the health calendar of the world.

Afrowired’s vision for partnering with this year’s Rare Disease Day celebration is to bring more awareness to Rare Diseases among young people in Ghana and Africa.

According to an article on the Rare Disease Day website, there are over 300 million people living with one or more of over 6,000 identified rare diseases around the world. Rare diseases currently affect 3.5% – 5.9% of the worldwide population. 72% of rare diseases are genetic whilst others are the result of infections (bacterial or viral), allergies and environmental causes, or are degenerative and proliferative. 70% of those genetic rare diseases start in childhood.

This episode of Afrowired SESSNS is fully dedicated to people living with Rare Disease in Ghana, Africa and across the world.

The performance was led by Ghanaian vocalist Darkua and Viqtorioz on the keys, this amazing performance was recorded live in Accra.

Enjoy!
