Dominic Owusu Purcell, aka Qweccy Plus was born to Ghanaian Parents in the Ashanti region of Ghana. Qweccy Plus went through early childhood learning and playing musical instruments in church.
Before Qweccy completed basic school, he was already playing at church events and private parties. He used to gather monies collected from these events and buy new clothes, shoes, etc. He learnt how to play trumpet, drums, keyboard and other wind instruments.
Qweccy Plus devoted his full time to music when he begun playing keyboard and other instruments for studio producers.
He worked under many local producers then later moved to Tema in the Greater Accra region. His stay in Tema got him to work with all kinds of people including Mix Masta Garzy, Possi Gee, Methmix, DCryme and more. He also had a link up with Kwesi Arthur’s pioneered music outfit ‘Ground Up Chale’ where he released his first song which was a cover of Wizkid’s hit single Manya.
Qweccy Plus has produced for many mainstream acts including Ebony of blessed memory, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Kelvyn Boy, Sista Afia, Strongman, Medikal, DCryme, etc. He’s also worked with many upcoming ones including his formal label mate Fayastone, Abele Kotoku, Kojo Stitches and more.
Qweccy released his first official single ‘Lies’ in 2018. He followed up with ‘Guyman’ which features Ghanaian luxury rapper Medikal.
Qweccy Plus is currently out with a new song titled ‘John Cena‘ which was recorded on Spellz produced instrumental for Runtown’s International Badman Killa.
Qweccy creates his music with inspirations drawn from late 80s Ghanaian music. According to him, these songs are well composed.
